Heuristic Evaluation of the App Interface

Heuristic Evaluation of the App Interface

  1. Explore Page

The trendy fits section takes up a huge section of the page, which allows less room for other important features too.

The home page accounts for the initial impression of the users, hence a CTA (Call To Action) button for the USP, in this case Customise your own design would be essential to establish a strong brand value.

As mentioned above, the the Explore page accounts for the initial impression, hence ideally Logo visibility on all screens, not seen on many competitor sites.

Categories in the fore front instead of deeper below would allow users to navigate easily through the app.

The categories and the USP, which were supposed to be at the fore front to catch users attention are at the page bottom.

I currently do not have access to the brand guidelines, but the use of colours seem a bit off compared to the logo.

The use of Dark Blue on Black for the navigation bar is not very prominently visible.

Some of the icons used in the nav bar are not clearly understandable, for example, the “My Designs” tab. So, it would be ideal to name the icons.

The title section can be considered unnecessarily huge, even accounting for accessibility issues. That is potentially taking up more screen space, which could house better information in the space wasted.

  1. Menu Bar

The menu bar could house the categories. The whole purpose of the Menu Bar is to store the essential functions. The essential function in this case would be browsing through different categories of clothing to customise.

Although not an issue, it can be an added feature to add suggestions in the search bar.

Example of a competitor Menu Bar: H&M

  1. Create Page

It would be ideal to have a full screen view of this instead of a pop-up view. That would reduce distraction from the users.

Breadcrumbs can be implemented for better navigation and to show the hierarchy of Navigations, and users could always go back to previous tabs easily.

Some popular/bestsellers could be shown to the users based on the category they choose. So pre-made template options could be shown for a better understanding.

The create button could have a higher visual importance by making it into a larger button.

An added feature could be a small description on the product, for example the material used, dimensions, features of the material like water resistance, etc...

Ex:

Breadcrumbs is a composition of navigational links to indicate user's position in case of multi-level app structure

The screen doesn’t show the navigation, i.e, the category of cloth he is customising. In case the user forgets what he is looking at, there’s no way he can find out what he was searching for.

This section contains 6 tabs, with 6 different levels of importance. But are placed at the same level.

Once the user picks a colour and adds an element to be printed, there’s no way for them to test out the graphic elements on different colours.

Same goes with the graphic elements. The level of customisation is limited, and users always have to navigate back to the colours section to start again which increases their work.

The graphic elements don’t snap to grid.

  1. Set up a Store

Users can’t set up a store without a logo image. I am not so sure about the technical details behind whether it accounts for fraud protection.

The “Add Shop Theme” section could include pre-made theme options for users to choose from, instead of manually typing it down. This might cause a little frustration to the users. Pre-written options ease the user experience of selecting themes instead of manually typing it.
